frequently asked questions
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR TO GYMNASTICS?
All clothing should be appropriate for moving, stretching and going upside down. Leotards or snug stretchy clothing is ideal. Comfortable shorts or leggings with (not too big) shirts work well. Everyone must have bare feet and hair pulled back securely and neatly. Leggings and long sleeves are encouraged in cold weather. We have a small selection of leotards for sale at the gym. Wearing a hair tie as a bracelet is a great way to make sure you'll have it when you need it…especially if you come to gymnastics directly from school.
CAN I LEAVE DURING MY CHILD’S CLASS TIME?
Sure! However, we recommend staying to watch the first few classes until your child is comfortable with you leaving. Please remind them to wait INSIDE at the end of class and make sure to have a cell phone number on file in the office. Of course, we ask that you stay if your child needs help going to the bathroom.
IS THERE AN OPEN GYM TIME?
Little kid open gym (walking to age 5) is Wednesdays (during the school year) from 11:30am-12:30pm and Saturdays 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm ($15/child). Unfortunately we do not have a regular open gym time for older kids.
CAN I DO A MAKEUP CLASS?
Click here to learn how to schedule a make up class. Login to the parent portal here. You must notify us (via the parent portal) at least 1 hour before your absence to be eligible for a make up class.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE TO CANCEL CLASSES IN BAD WEATHER?
We will announce weather cancellations on our website and on the office voice mail (413-256-6990). We are often open even when schools are closed so please be sure to check online or call.
WHAT IS THE INSTRUCTOR TO STUDENT RATIO?
There is one instructor per 8 students in a school-age class and one instructor per 6 students in a preschool class.
HOW CAN MY CHILD JOIN THE COMPETITIVE TEAM?
If we think that your child has the strength, flexibility, and work ethic for competitive gymnastics, we will invite them to join one of our pre-team groups. If your child was on the competitive team at a different gym, please call and set up an evaluation with one of our team coaches.
